So, if your child had a C+ last term in grade 5 geometry, then watching grade 5 or even grade 4 videos would be recommended. Also, if your child is in grade 6 and his/her skills are above grade level, he/she can start watching the grade 7 math videos. There are neither rules nor limits to watching the videos. Perhaps your child has always had difficulty with fractions, or reading comprehension. Simply type in 'fractions' or 'comprehension' in our video search tool and watch the lessons that are at your child's grade level (or even a grade level below your child's). Another common situation may be that your child is working at his/her grade level in most math units except for, let's say measurement. If your child is in grade 5 but his/her marks for measurement need to improve, then he/she can watch the grade 4 videos for measurement while still watching the grade 5 videos for the other math units. Report card comments are also great tools to see where your child needs to improve. For example, he/she may have done well in reading, but still has difficulty retelling a story. Therefore, the videos on retelling would benefit your child. Finally, you can tell your child's teacher that you want to help your child at home. Ask the teacher the specific skills and concepts your child needs to improve upon. Your child's teacher should let you know exactly what lessons your child needs to improve on.Then, watch the videos. There are many factors involved such as motivation, learning style, attention span, and prior knowledge. (See 'Parent' page for more information) My child has had a history of difficulty with a particular subject area. Have him/her watch the videos regularly throughout the year. Videos should be watched every day about 1 week before the unit is being taught, every night during the unit, and even more frequently a week or so before the test or assignment. Don't wait until the last minute and hope for success. For some children learning requires repetition and consistent instruction. Make sure you give your child a good head start! My child is not motivated to learn. Try to find the time to sit down, watch the videos together, and discuss the lessons. After a short while, your child will get used to the videos and begin to routinely watch them. My child is motivated but just needs some extra help. We recommended that you set up a schedule for him/her to watch the videos alone. Have your child explain the lesson back to you so that you can check for understanding. My child is a visual (or verbal) learner. All videos are taught by certified teachers who understand that not all students learn the same way.
