Writing Help - Help My Child Print and Write Neatly

TutorGiant.com

Having your child print and write neatly not only makes his teacher’s life easier, but it also gives your child a sense of pride and confidence with his work.

Printing and writing are skills still needed in our ‘word processing’ world.  Students are still required to submit written material in school and adults still use writing skills at home and at work.

Furthermore, writing has a flow.  If it is illegible, it may lack in coherency and flow, and flow is an important element in quality writing.

Whether your child is at the stage of printing or writing, you can help him/her at home to improve the neatness and readability of his/her written work. Try some of the following tips and see what works best for you.

  • Display examples of your child’s ‘best’ work on the fridge or somewhere that is in constant view.  This will give your child a visual point of reference to see what he/she is capable of.
  • Reward your child when he/she prints or writes to your expectations.  The rewards can be small such as a sticker, or more meaningful like a hug and congratulations.
  • Check that your child has proper posture and pencil grip.  A slouching student with a loose grip on the pencil will always have messy writing.

These suggestions will give your child the focus and physical skills needed to improve his/her handwriting at any stage.
