Linear Measurement – Grade 2 Math, Help My Child Measure By Stuart Ackerman In grade 2 math, your child will learn how to use standard and non-standard units for linear measurement. Your child will learn various ways to measure objects using a variety of measurements. Your child will learn: · to measure length, width, height, distance, and perimeter · units of measurement · estimate, measure, and record linear measurements Your child should be familiar with the appropriate vocabulary related to grade 2 linear measurement such as: · distance · length · width · height · perimeter · metric and/or U.S. Customary units of measurement How you can help your child at home: 1. Have your child estimate the length, width, or height of any object around the house. Use a measuring tape to see how close your child’s estimate was. Try to use different units of measurement (i.e. smaller ones and larger ones).
