2-D Geometry – Grade 4 Geometry, Angles and Shapes

     In grade 4 math, your child will be introduced to analyzing quadrilaterals, measuring angles, and 2-D shapes.

     Your child will learn:

·         to identify and construct congruent shapes

·         the concept of degrees to measure angles

·         the concept of similarity

     Your child should be familiar with the appropriate vocabulary related to grade 2 fractions such as:

·        classifying

·         quadrilateral

·         congruent shapes

·         similar shapes

·         angle

How you can help your child at home:

1. If your child is interested in sports, you can show him or her how angles can be found.  For example, hockey pucks can be passed off the boards, trajectories in billiards, the layout of a baseball diamond.

     The more practice your child has with grade 4 2-D geometry at home, the better his or her geometry skills will become.
