3D Geometry and Measurement – Grade 3 Math Help Measurement and Geometry

By Stuart Ackerman

In grade 3 math, your child will be introduced to nets, pyramids, prisms and learn to measure mass.

     Your child will learn:

·       to identify and make 3-D shapes

  •  to compare and measure mass
  •  about capacity
  •  to estimate mass and capacity
  •  to use nets of 3-D shapes

Your child should be familiar with the appropriate vocabulary related to grade 3 measurement and geometry such as:

·      nets

  •  capacity
  •  mass

How you can help your child at home:

  1. Have your child help at home when someone in your family is working with mass. capacity, and volume.  For example, your child can help when using measuring cups or containers.

The more practice your child has with grade 3 3D geometry and measurement at home, the better his or her geometry and measurement skills will become.
