     Your child will learn:

·         to add and subtract whole numbers and decimal numbers to hundredths

·         to estimate sums and differences

·         to use mental math skills when adding and subtracting   

·         to add and subtract decimal numbers

     Your child should be familiar with the appropriate vocabulary related to grade 5 addition and subtraction such as:

·         estimating

·         mental math

·         addition, subtraction

How you can help your child at home:

1. Use prices from ads to create and solve addition and subtraction problems.

     The more practice your child has with grade 5 addition and subtraction skills at home, the better his or her adding and subtracting skills will become.
