Measuring Length – Grade 6 Math Help Measuring Length

By Stuart Ackerman

In grade 6 math, your child will be introduced to measuring shapes and length.

     Your child will learn:

·         to compare measurements with different units

·         to measure polygons

·         the relationship between perimeter and area

·         explore lines and triangles

Your child should be familiar with the appropriate vocabulary related to grade 6 measurement such as:

·         perimeter and area

·         polygons

How you can help your child at home:

  1. Get your child to measure the perimeter and area of his or her room or any other room in the house.  Have your child compare the area and perimeter.

The more practice your child has with grade 6 measurement at home, the better his or her measurement skills will become.
