Homework - How Do I Check My Child's Homework?

TutorGiant.com

As a parent, I realize how difficult it is sometimes to keep up with homework.  Who has the time?  When is the best time to check that your child is doing his/her homework?

Now, as a teacher, I feel that it is necessary for parents to help their children to organize homework time and become responsible for completing their homework (the idea of homework itself is another issue).

I will lay out some simple steps for busy parents in order to help them organize themselves and their children with regards to homework.

*      As soon as your child takes his/her shoes off, have him/her put the homework book/ agenda in a designated place (you can buy a plastic file divider and place it in your kitchen, for example).

*      When your child is finished with the assigned homework, have him/her show you what was completed so that you can sign the agenda/ homework book (if necessary).

*      Have your child place the agenda either in his/her school bag or back in the plastic file folder in the kitchen (do whatever works best for you).

Try to follow these steps in order to check that your child’s homework is completed.  This way, neither you nor your child will have to always ‘try’ to remember to do homework and you won’t get into arguments (at least not as many).  Set up a system that works best for you and your family’s schedule.

Once you get into a system of checking homework, it will become less of a task.
